Dear Sue and Sandy
Just a quick note to thank you so much for your
kind hospitality when we stayed with you on 2nd
June. We stayed at some great B&B's when John
was walking from Stoke to Scotland via The
Pennine Way and yours' was right up there with
the best of them. You have a lovely home and you
made us so welcome. Everything was beautiful,
comfortable and friendly and we will definitely
recommend it to anyone we know who is travelling
in that area. John completed his walk and
enjoyed every minute of it. He seemed to get
stronger and stronger as he went on and when he
finished in Kirk Yetholme on Saturday 14th June,
if he had not had to get back for work I think
he would have carried on. We saw the 2 older
gentlemen, who were staying with you at the same
time, (and the man with the big bag) many times
along the route but I am not sure if they
finished because they had not signed the book at
The Border Hotel in Kirk Yetholm, which most
people seem to do. We last saw them in Malham
because they did not stay in Horton in
Riblesdale - they did the long walk to Hawes, so
for the rest of the walk they were ahead of us
and we know they intended to finish on Friday
13th! They were not walking along the exact
route because they were missing out some places,
for instance they were not going over Penyghent.
I also wanted to thank you for your kind
donation to John's chosen charity - no idea how
much he raised yet but I think he will have done
very well for them judging by what is in so far.
I think John will want to do the walk again and
so I am sure we will see you - we certainly
would not think of staying anywhere else in that
area.
Kind Regards
Dianne & John Horne - June 2008 |
